Experimental Commmons

An interactive hybrid experience exploring tactility, embodiment, and the relationship between bodies and computational systems.

The project explores perception and more-than-human alliances as an active process of translation through tactility and playfulness using a custom-built system in which a microscope camera touches the surface of the skin. Pores, hairs, moles, and wrinkles became inputs that animate a digital form, emerging and evolving alongside the video layer and in relation to it.

Rather than functioning as a tool of documentation, the microscope acts as both sensing and imaging device.
Skin becomes simultaneously an image and interface, generating the conditions through which a digital body emerges. The work approaches seeing as a material encounter rather than a passive act of observation: microscopic surface details become active agents, shaping the behavior of a computational form in real time.

By bringing bodies, cameras, software, and movement into relation, the project explores how perception participates in the production of worlds, where touch becomes data, data becomes movement, and movement becomes a body elsewhere.
